Saudi National Day

Best offers

Saudi National Day falls on 23 September every year. It is a fixed date in the Gregorian calendar rather than a moving Hijri one, because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ties it to the first day of Libra. In 2026 it fell on Wednesday 23 September, the 96th National Day, and it marks the royal decree that unified the country under the name the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, proclaimed on 23 September 1932. It is not Founding Day, which falls on 22 February and marks the first Saudi state in Diriyah in 1727. On the retail side, this year's National Day sits inside an exceptional nationwide discount season that the Ministry of Commerce opened from 1 August to 31 October 2026. This page carries the National Day offers we read on the merchants' own Saudi storefronts, with the price we saw and the day we saw it.

Questions & answers

When is Saudi National Day 2026?

Wednesday 23 September 2026, the 96th National Day. The date does not move: unlike the religious holidays it is fixed to 23 September in the Gregorian calendar, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ties to the first day of Libra. The Ministry of Human Resources announced it as a one day paid holiday for the private and non profit sectors.

What is the difference between National Day and Founding Day?

They mark two different beginnings, about two centuries apart. National Day, 23 September, marks the 1932 unification of the country under the name the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Founding Day, 22 February, marks Imam Muhammad bin Saud founding the first Saudi state in Diriyah in 1727. Both are public holidays, and they are the only two non religious ones. The number, the 96th, belongs to National Day alone.

How long do the National Day offers last?

No merchant we checked publishes an end date, so nobody can tell you honestly. What is official is the wider window: the Ministry of Commerce opened an exceptional nationwide discount season running from 1 August to 31 October 2026, and National Day sits inside it. Beware any page that gives you a precise end date for a specific store, because the stores themselves do not state one.

Are the National Day discounts real?

The ones on this page are, in the narrow sense that we opened each product on the merchant's own Saudi store, read the price and the crossed out price there, and recorded the day we read them. We do not take a figure from a banner. That matters here, because the banners disagree with themselves: on one merchant's own National Day page the hero says up to 50 per cent while the page title says up to 40 per cent. A percentage on a poster is a claim, a price on a product page is a fact.

Which categories actually drop on National Day?

In what we verified this year, the deepest cuts are on large home appliances: washers, dryers, fridges and microwaves, where several products are at roughly half their listed price. Footwear follows, in the thirty to fifty per cent range. That pattern is worth knowing before you buy: an appliance is worth waiting for a sale, a pair of trainers is discounted often enough that the sale adds less.
